An important cast on method for edges that need some stretch. Perfect for a hat. Here are a couple of videos to get you started.

Joining to knit in the round

Early on you will need to join your knitting, this video will help you to do that as well as avoiding twisting your stitches

Knitting (k) and Purl (p)

Knit is your basic stitch.

Purl is important for creating the stretchy ribbing on the brim of the hat.

Make one stitch (M1)

Used in some (but not all) hats when you need to increase a few stitches where the colourwork needs it.

Reading a knitting chart in the round

If you are new to knitting charts, here is a handy video on how to read them

Stranded (fair isle) knitting

The technique for making the colourful bit of the hats

Knit two together (k2tog)

Used for decreasing the hat.

Making a pom pom (with a pom pom maker)

The all-important pom-pom with the clover pom pom maker.

Unpicking stitches
